incidentally, why do you always have to...

A quote from our Yatzhee games with Dad. Because the game revolves around rolling dice, my dad would inevitably start singing the Rawhide theme song. At some point Snake got tired of hearing Rawhide, so he would retaliate by trying to sing over Dad. Snake would sing a song he made up about our younger cousin Sean entitled "Seaner is a cool dude". My dad hated that.

Those Yahtzee games are fond memories. Remember the Sara Lee poundcake, strawberries and whipped cream in the can? We got to go nuts with that whipped cream.

There are a series of Yatzhee-themed posts in the works.

I swear I should have been diagnosed with something in those days. "Seaner is a cool dude"? Really? WTF?

The really weird one was "deet, wah, dum, collat and moe, coney, tra, sabi, blah. Yuck doo."

What you should have been diagnosed with is a small esophagus. For some reason I associate Yahtzee games with those choking fits you used to have where dad would have to turn you upside down and I would beat you on the back. I had a Pavlovian aversion to sitting at the dinner table and eating for fear of you choking.

It's Ya-H-tzee; not Yatz-H-ee. I looked.

I'll fire my editor.

I took too big of bites. Still do. It's a wonder that not only did I not choke to death, I'm not 300 lbs and I don't suffer from chronic heartburn.
